Located on the exact slip where Otis Redding first wrote, “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”, this boat house has panoramic views of the bay and a fair amount of privacy. The form of the building is a direct response to these factors. The house was conceived of as a glass box with private spaces encased in white fiberglass pods, and a roof garden on the top of the building. Expansive views are visible from all sides of the structure. Taking cues from the neighboring boats, materials like teak and fiberglass were chosen based on their ability to withstand the marine environment
